The American photographer, Lee Miller, and her husband, the Surrealist artist Roland Penrose, moved to Farleys House, deep in the Sussex countryside in 1949. Here they raised their son Antony and lived and worked, surrounded by their remarkable collection of contemporary art built up over thirty-five years. The house became a meeting place for some of the leading figures from the art world including Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst, Joan Miro, Man Ray and Leonora Carrington.
