This two-day tour will include special visits to -

The Collegiate Church of St Mary with its celebrated Beauchamp Chapel where the tomb of Richard Beauchamp, 5th Earl of Warwick is ‘one of the masterpieces of medieval art’.

Lord Leycester Hospital, with its magnificent range of fourteenth and fifteenth-century half-timbered buildings. Originally built for the Guilds of Warwick, it was acquired in 1571 by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, who founded a hospital for aged or injured soldiers and their wives, a function which continues to this day.

Kenilworth Castle with its romantic ruins and spectacular Elizabethan knot gardens. First built in the 1120s, Kenilworth became a royal castle for most of its history. In 1563 Elizabeth I granted it to her favourite, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, who converted the castle into a lavish palace fit to entertain his queen. The castle’s fortifications were dismantled in 1650, and the ruins later became famous thanks in part to Sir Walter Scott’s 1821 romance, Kenilworth.

Warwick Castle built by a king, the seat of a kingmaker and vital stronghold in the Wars of the Roses and the English Civil War. Dating back to 1068 this historic castle was converted to a country house by Sir Fulke Greville in the early seventeenth century and was owned by the Greville family until purchased by the Tussauds Group in 1978.
