Details
The new and exotic drinks - tea, chocolate and coffee - were introduced in the middle of the seventeenth century and became increasingly popular and fashionable. The so-called ‘tea-table’ was controlled by the lady of the house and was a place to converse, gossip and to display the tea equipage. The lecture will explore the fascinating history of tea-drinking in England from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries.
