A royal palace and park, splendid mansions and townhouses, gentlemen’s clubs, exclusive shops and luxury trades have made the area known as St James’s among the most fashionable quarters in London since its development in the late seventeenth century. This series of lectures will look at aspects of the cultural history and architectural development of the area.
